“I’m just a lone wolf
One chain, with crooked fangs.
I didn’t come to put your fire out,
I don’t fear your flames.”
Downloaded over a gig of SXSW music, most of it is crap, but this song stuck out. Ya’ll know I’m partial to some smart hip hop. Name of the artist is Cecil Otter, name of the song is Rebel Yellow.
I don’t know how Owen Pallett was able to nab the name of “Final Fantasy” for his music. You’d think at some point or another the name would have been taken, or at least bought up by Squaresoft/Square-EA/Square/Square-Enix/whatever the fuck they want to call themselves nowadays.
Owen did string arrangements for The Arcade Fire, as well as some work with Grizzly Bear and Beirut. He is a gigantic nerd, and based his solo project’s name from the RPG series. In fact, his second album, “He Poos Clouds,” is almost entirely based on the eight schools of magic from Dungeons and Dragons (evocation, necromancy, illusion, enchantment, conjuration, abjuration, divination, transmutation).
This song is titled “Many Lives -> 49mp”, with MP being magic points used in role playing games. It was on the album He Poos Clouds, and then again on an EP “Many Lives for 49 MP”.
I like this sort of thing.
