Disneyland Day 1:
My feet hurt.
We woke up around 7 and left the hotel around 8:30 in the morning. We got to the park just after opening, with clouds hovering overhead and sprinkles coming down. It was pretty empty, probably due to the weather, but that didn’t deter us. We were pretty tired though, from little-to-no sleep and a long day of driving (Val driving I mean) the previous day and comedy.
We jumped right into the rides. Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Winnie the Pooh, Space Mountain, Captain EO (ugh), Star Tours, and a ton more. We went on the cheesy kiddy ones, a few coasters, but didn’t burn out because we’re going back for the next four days. The sun shone later and the weather got nicer, and we hopped parks, roamed, ate, sat, took photos, and generally just had a fantastic time.
I haven’t been to Disneyland in years, but I’m amazed at the sort of feeling the park leaves you with. I’m not in love with the company like many — I watched the movies as a kid, but the magic of the parks was always somewhat out of reach. Walking the streets, seeing the families and the kids and how perfect the park can be during those hours, it’s hard not to cheese a little about it. It makes you feel good.
I look forward to the next few days. I won’t have a voice for very long though — I cackled and screamed and yelled and laughed like a man with not long to live. It’ll continue.
